Personal Web Site Instructions

So you want to have a website

Step 1
Do you qualify for the free PRIS website?
If you are unsure if you qualify for the free web page Click Here

Step 2
Now that Step 1 is out of the way you need to decide on a name for your site.
The name you decide on will be the directory on our server that your files will be stored in.
It will also replace the "yourwebsitename" in the web address http://www.pris.bc.ca/yourwebsitename/ as well as the directory name in which you will upload all your html files.

If you haven't already created your web site you will need to get software to design a web page, called an HTML editor.
There are several HTML editors you can download from the Internet. Popular editors include MS Front Page, Adobe Page Mill, and Net Objects Fusion. There are several good shareware packages also, including: Hot-Dog and Luckmans's Web Edit. If you are familiar with html tags you can even use Notepad.

You will also need a File Transfer Protocol Client (known as FTP Clients). This is the software you use to "upload" your web page. You can find good FTP & HTML editing software at the following web address: http://idirect.tucows.com
