Welcome to another
month of figure skating with the MOFSC.
February looks like it is going to be the busiest month of the MOFSC
2003/2004season!
The Pacific Star Skate
Championship was held in Surrey BC January
23-25! Representing the Central North
Region from the MOFSC was Alyssa Rowe who placed 9th in the Bronze
Interpretive, Kassi Loiselle 9th Silver Interpretive, and Kirsti
Krantz – 9th Gold Triathlon.
Congratulations Girls!
Looking ahead to
February and March competitions…Good Luck to all of the Skaters participating!
The Mighty Peace
Interclub Competition is scheduled for February 6,
7, & 8th at the Peace River Kinsmen Arena! A handful of our skaters have registered for
various components.
The Grand Prairie
Competition is scheduled for February 20 – 22nd
and a lot of our skaters have registered for various components.
The BC Winter Games is scheduled for February 28/29th…and Ashlee Shail and Kaleigh Needham have qualified at the Pre-Novice level to represent our Zone. Andrea Kreuzinger is the Zone 8 Team coach.
The Annual TOTEM Competition is being hosted by Fort St. John, and is scheduled for March 5- 7th. This year TOTEM is a high competition; therefore the Competitive
& Star Stream categories will be included.
As well, all Synchronized skating teams except for Can-skate A will be
performing at Totem.
The Synchronized Skating Camrose
AB competition…is scheduled for March 20th at
the Max Mclean arena.
A bus has been chartered, and will be leaving March
19t.h, (Gail will let us
know the departure time etc.) and the host Hotel is the Travelodge Edmonton
West.
This trip is funded and chaperoned by the MOFSC,
therefore Skaters need only provide money for food, and the West Edmonton Mall
shopping trip (if they want).
If you have any questions, please contact Gail
Rowe, the MOFSC Synchronized Skating Director.
She will continue to keep you informed via newsletters, and by posting
any new information on the bulletin board.
Just a reminder, that it is important that all
skaters attend all of the synchronized skating practice sessions! When skaters miss these sessions it impedes
the progress of the whole team. If your skater is unable to make a practice
then please let the team coaches know.
‘Celebration on Ice’ –
Prince George
The Junior Synchronized Skating team (along with a
few parents and other club members) is off to the Prince George – ‘Celebration on Ice’ Star skate on February
the 5th!
The MOFSC is renting a bus to transport the skaters
to this event, and the bus will leave right after the Thursday AM Novice
Practice (07:40 am). We will arrive
in Chetwynd at 0830 am and the Junior Synchro Team will practice at the
Chetwynd Arena until 9:30 a.m. and then we will continue on to prince George
with an estimated arrival time of 2:00 pm.
This should allow plenty of the time for the junior team to get to the
Multiplex arena by 3:00 pm in order to be ready for their practice, which is
scheduled for 4:00 pm. If anything
changes with these times, we will let you know….
There are still some bus seats remaining, and we
would love to have you come along!
Please let Pam, or Donna know!
You can arrange for a ticket to watch the event on-line through ticketmasters.ca
The following people have
confirmed tickets, and/or a bus seat: Section F - row 1 seats 2-6 & row2

Carnival a success, everyone must participate.
A list is posted on the bulletin board to recruit
Carnival Department heads – please sign up.
If
you require any information about the carnival, please contact Janet Loiselle
(Carnival Chair).
Note that the two weeks of Spring Break fall in just
prior to the Carnival – it is unfortunate timing, but please keep in mind our
schedule is very much dictated to us by other users of the ice. All skaters participating are expected to
attend all practice sessions. The weeks
prior to the show are very full for our members – if you cannot make all of the
sessions, or will not be participating in the carnival please let Marilyn
Kreuzinger know as soon as you can.
·
ALL
skaters are encouraged to participate – the more skaters
we have, the bigger and the better that the show is!
·
Please get your costume form filled out and back
to Anne Henschel! Each skater will be
charged approximately (subject to change) $20.00
as a fee for the purchasing of fabric, any decoration items and a trace of a
