Scott Taylor, Youth Addictions Counsellor
Scott.Taylor@northernhealth.ca
My name is Scott Taylor and I am a Youth Addictions Counsellor.
I have been living and working in Fort St John since May of
2004. I have a good
deal of experience working in Day Support programs with mentally and
physically disabled youth as well as a lot of experience working in
Residential Care facilities with at-risk and street-involved
teenagers. I recently graduated from the University College of the
Cariboo (soon to be renamed Thompson Rivers University) in Kamloops
BC with a Bachelors degree in Psychology.
Since I have been in Fort St John, the thing that I have probably
enjoyed the most is the amazing sunsets.
The thing I love most about the work I do here is that the
clients always manage to teach me things about myself.
Hopefully I do the same for them as well.
Coming here has been an amazing experience and I look forward
to much more.

Chris Wagner, MSW, RSW
Youth & Family Addictions Counsellor
Chris.Wagner@northernhealth.ca
I arrived in Fort St. John in mid-October 2004. Coming from
Southern Ontario, I was quite surprised when winter arrived a mere
2 days after I had. I had previously lived in Toronto, where I
completed my Master of Social Work degree in June of 2004. Most
recently I was working with street youth, counselling them on
social, emotional, and mental health issues. Prior to this
I did counselling with families and youth experiencing
problems at home, school, and mentally/emotionally. I currently
provide individual and family counselling for youth and adults
experiencing problems related to substance use (their own or
someone else's). I am also involved in planning and implementing
education and support groups within the community. The most
rewarding part of the job, for me, is the human connections that I
am able to make, meeting the courageous people who come into our
office with a desire to reduce the impact that substances
have on their lives.
When I'm not wearing my counselling hat, I can be found strapping
on skis, skates, a bike helmet, or just driving around the area,
exploring the natural beauty, and trying to capture some of it
through my cameras. I'm an active member of the North Peace
Naturalist Club, an organization that promotes active enjoyment of
the natural world. I have also become involved in the Fort St.
John Film Society, attending their monthly movie showings and
promoting their events through the FSJNow website.

Laurie
Plante, Youth Addictions Counsellor
Laurie.Plante@northernhealth.ca
My name is Laurie Plante and I am an addictions counsellor here in
Fort St. John. I have been working in Fort St. John for two and a
half years and have been working at North Peace Addiction Services
since 2003. I really enjoy living in Fort St. John because I have
had the opportunity to meet many people from different places and
although you may have to look a bit harder there are lots of things
to do here. This town has been very welcoming to me and my family
and that has allowed us to feel at home when most of our family is
far away. I graduated from the University of Lethbridge in Alberta
with my Health Science -Addictions Counselling degree. I originally
came up to Fort St. John to do my fourth year practicum and ended up
deciding to take a job and live here. My position here is Youth
Addictions Counsellor although I see many adult clients as well. I
enjoy doing group work with both youth and adults. Seeing how people
can support each other and teaching people to reach out and use
their support systems and their community in recovery is something
that I strongly believe in.
