Our Staff
Janeth is the Counselling Services Office receptionist. She has worked in the Health Center for more than 4 years. She plays an important role in providing office organization and administration and in making sure that people feel comfortable. If you have a question about office hours, booking an appointment, finding out more information or just want to understand more about how the counselling office works, she would be most helpful. He has been working as a counsellor for more than 15 years and is familiar with counselling on issues such as: marital/relationship issues, blended family issues, addictions, parent/child conflict, stress and life transitions, depression and anxiety, loss and grief, mental health issues and trauma. Russ has a great sense of humour and is easy to talk to. If you need help or support in your situation, feel free to give Russ a call or set an appointment to talk. Russ also is the Program Manager for the Tumbler Ridge Counselling Service. If you have any questions, Russ is more than willing to chat with you on the phone or meet with you in person to talk about any aspect of the counselling services available. Janette came to Tumbler Ridge from Prince George, BC in December of 2003. Janette works as the Safe Home Coordinator, which provides emergency shelter for women and their children who need safety due to violence within their relationships. She also works as a Women's Counsellor to address many different issues women may have including: past and present issues with relationship abuse, prior childhood trauma or hurts, difficulties in coping with life, developing a greater sense of self-esteem, parenting struggles, loss and grief, life transitions, and vocational goals, etc. Janette holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Victoria and has been counselling since 1997 and enjoys meeting new people and the privilege of working with women to build within them a greater sense of self. She has been a counsellor working with youth and families for more than 5 years and is familiar with counselling on issues such as: children who have witnessed violence, teens dealing with difficulties in coping with life, the development of self-esteem in children and youth, anger management, parent-child conflict, prior childhood trauma, parenting issues, and stepfamily issues. Mimi loves working with youth, is easygoing and very approachable due to her great sense of humour.
