Paddling

The many lakes and rivers in the Tumbler Ridge area provide great paddling opportunities. The Murray River, which flows past town, is the premier river canoe trip in the region, passing through very scenic country as it flows from Kinuseo Falls to the Pine River near Chetwynd. The upper part of the river (from the falls to Tumbler Ridge) can be run as an overnight trip or a series of day trips of varying length. The stretch from TR down is a more serious two or three day trip, with no access points and several ledges and rapids. Good Class 2 to 3 whitewater paddling can be found on the Wolverine River and Flatbed Creek, both 10 minutes from Tumbler Ridge. Be aware of falls and drops on both of these streams.
